Website Color Contrast Analyzer

One important requirement for good readability of a web site is color contrast. Two colors are considered to provide good color visibility if the brightness difference and the color difference between the two colors are greater than a set range.

The range suggested by the W3C is greater than 125 for color brightness and greater than 500 for color difference. Take a look at this free online color contrast analyzer that is available at: http://www.snook.ca/technical/colour_contrast/colour.html.

This analyzer allows you to enter a foreground and background color and test the contrast and color difference between these two colors. You must use the hexadecimal number for these colors.

What to do with the results of using this tool should still be one of many feedback mechanisms a web designer uses when making design decisions.
